Amsterdam is a 45 minute plane journey, or a sleep away on the ferry. It is a city well known for coffee shops and the red light district but let’s be honest, it is one beautiful place to visit and filled with stunning little alleys, Amsterdam is the perfect place to explore this year.

I was amazed when i arrived, i was shocked at how picturesque it looked, i had seen photos before but never imagined it to be as pretty as it was. The air was clear, as i walked along the river Amstel and seen the canals pass by. The scenery looked surreal, as autumn leaves turned orange and fell from the trees.

Along with stunning views, there are also a lot of shops from big designer stores such as Zara, H&M and JD, to more quaint local shops which sold unique hand made or one off vintage items.

If you fancy visiting Amsterdam, there are so many acitvites to do during your stay, such as Madame Tussaud’s, Canal trips along the river, a visit to Anne Franks house, Van Gogh Museum and a romantic walk through Vondel park is definietly a treat.

Amsterdam is best known for its luxurious canal houses and charming gabled facades, but the city is full of architectural treasures. The buildings are quaint but with a clean, sharp, modern twist, even the high built town houses are a treat to look at.

There are many cafe’s and restaurants to eat at too, with the likes of The Breakfast Club, and other busy continental cafes, there really is something for everyone.
If you’re a cheese lover then this is definitely the place to visit, with the famous Dutch cheese stores dotted all around Amsterdam, you can buy all sorts of historic cheese.

Amsterdam really lived up to my expectations, it was more alluring than I had imagined. I will be visiting again very soon, and would definitely recommend going.

For your first trip and a cheap alternative i booked through DFDS Seaways, which is really good value for money, but definitely take your own food and drink aboard as you will end up paying extortion on the ferry.

I hope this post comes to use of someone visiting or wanting to visit Amsterdam, you definitely need to!
